Fifes and Drums

The fife used, strictly of the 'Canavesano' type, is made by a local artisan specialised in this type of instrument.

In the past, they were made of boxwood or 'martlet' in Piedmontese.

Nowadays, in addition to the boxwood already mentioned, other woods are used, such as ebony, rosewood, apricot, cherry and olive.

Our drums are of the 'Historical' type.

They have a polished brass case, wooden rims painted black and hemp strings.

String tension is achieved by acting on leather tension rods.

Entirely hand-built, the Amat Company of Turin, a Piedmontese artisan excellence in the percussion sector, made them based to our specifications.

They bear, on the front, a pennant with our historical coat of arms.

The bass drum or 'timballa' is an instrument with the task of regulating cadences and completing the drum section.

Ours, which is also made entirely by hand, comes from the craftsmen of 'Le Soprano' company in Brembate Sopra (Bergamo).
